Carrier Clinic® Hosts “Walk of Hope” for Mental Health Awareness
Carrier Clinic®, an NJ psychiatric hospital and recovery center, recently announced that it will be hosting a “Walk of Hope” on its Belle Mead campus on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Registration is from 9-10 am will the walk starting promptly at 10 am. This inaugural fundraising event is being held to raise awareness for addiction and mental health disorders, and help combat the stigma that is faced by those who suffer from mental illness.
“Opening this event up to our community is a small step to talking more openly about mental illness. We hope that we can alleviate some of the mystery that surrounds mental illness and addiction by bringing people onto our campus, and educating them on the realities, not misconceptions, of mental illness,” said C. Richard Sarle, president & CEO of Carrier Clinic.
This family-friendly event will feature entertainment and giveaways by WMGQ 98.3 radio station and music by DJ Ken Leiberman. Food will be offered to participants courtesy of Applebees and Baker’s Treats. Sponsors include NASS Tech, Sodexo, Electrical Concepts, Birdsall Group, Active Disposal, Financial Resources Federal Credit Union and Camp Bow Wow of Bridgewater will be on hand to share a treat at the Doggie Oasis.
All those interested in participating can register as individuals or as teams at www.CarrierClinicWalkofHope.org, and every person who raises at least $100 will receive a Walk of Hope t-shirt.
Proceeds raised from the event will benefit Carrier Clinic’s Capital Campaign.
